May 2022 Newsletter

Hello Nyayo Family!

May was a month of steady progress as we were able to reach multiple accomplishments including our basic needs goal as well as a sustainability project goal! Before we dive into all the details of the events that occurred this past month, let’s first start by introducing one of our kids from Ibonde Children’s Home!

Greetings From Uganda!

This month we are excited to introduce you to Kembabazi Kate! She is 13 years old and in primary five. Below is a message that she wanted us to share with you all!

“Greetings to my family in America. My name is Kate and I am happy to speak to you. Our school started again this month and we are back to studying so I can have a bright future. Thank you for caring for me. “

If any of our donors ever have the interest to reach out and send a message to our children, you can always email us at nyayo.info@gmail.com and we will be sure to relay it to our team in Uganda for the kids to read.

What’s New?

Money for Heifer #1 Raised!

Thanks to all of the amazing donors that made it possible for us to be able to purchase another heifer! We appreciate every donation and seriously can’t thank our Nyayo family enough!

The cattle herd project has a huge impact on the sustainability of our orphanages. These sustainability projects we have, allow for the orphanages to be able sell and trade within their community as well as give an opportunity for the children to get involved with the care and upkeep of the animals, which hopefully helps them gain valuable skills that they may need later in life.

Gordon has received the funds and is currently searching for a healthy heifer that can join the herd! We will make sure to keep you updated with pictures of the new heifer on our instagram and in June’s newsletter when she’s officially purchased!

More Mosquito Nets!

We were able to raise $150 that allowed us to purchase and replace 10 more mosquito nets for our kids this month! We’ve replaced close to half of the old, worn out nets as we still have a little over $1,500 to go in order to reach our goal of replacing all 200 nets! We just want to thank everyone who has helped us get this far on the mosquito net project goal!

Rainy Month!

May was a month filled with many rainy days that brought forth more vegetation for our herd and also required the children’s homes to have to collect fire wood from the surrounding forests and cover it in order to keep it dry for cooking meals! Below you can see just how wet the ground has become this month, as well as being able to see the wood that was collected.

School is in Session!

Gordon and the caregivers have been busy as they try to help the children meet all of their needs, both in and out of the classroom! The kids are working hard and seem to be enjoying their time as well! Below are some pictures of the school buildings where our kids from Ibonde spend their days engaging in various studies!

Bible Study

Weekly Zoom Studies

Please reach out if you’re interested in joining our bible studies via zoom every Monday at 7pm CT! We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about Jesus, even if you just wish to keep your camera off and listen in on our discussions! We like to keep it light and informal as we have casual conversations about the various chapters we read throughout the Bible! Currently we are studying the book of Psalms.

May Giving Report

Donors gave $4,177.67 towards Basic Needs this month! Due to the larger than usual amount donors gave this month towards Basic Needs, our founders added more of our money to heifer #1 and mosquito nets. Please click Monthly Financial Report for a full detailed breakdown or see below graphic for a quick summary.

A special thanks also to our regulars and one time givers for May’s allocation:

Cindy Dorsainvil, Arman and Leslie Jahandafard, Curran Hyde, Angi Keel, Josh Cornett, Brandon and Mahalie Todd, Jacob and Amanda Patterson, Joyce McConnell, Alex and Michelle Moore, Taylor Sutton, Sebastian and Eun Joo Tarchala, Ryan and Sydney McKenna, David Phillips, Cayce McAlister, Sierra and Sam Smith, Albert Meza, Taylor Handley, Cynthia and Anthony McNatt, Lydia Foutch, Armin Jahandarfard, and Anna Barrera. Thank you all, we truly would not be close to meeting the needs without your help!

Thank you for all who have ever given donations and/or your prayers! I hope you can tell how impactful you have been.

Peace and blessings,

Michael, Gordon, and Hunter
