April 2022 Newsletter

Hello Nyayo Family!

April was yet another month filled with blessings and prosperity. Not only were the goals of basic needs met but the children also got time to worship and celebrate Good Friday and Easter Sunday! As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, we were able to raise enough money for a special Easter meal that seemed to bring many smiles on the kid’s faces! Before we get into all the details of what God blessed us with in April, let me first introduce you to our child of the month!

Greetings From Uganda!

This month we are excited to introduce you to Asemera Moonlight! She 11 years old and is in primary four. She wanted to leave a loving message for all the donors of Nyayo!

“Good evening our sponsors in America. Thank you for helping me and supporting my life. We love you. We are waiting to see you soon. May God bless you. I have started school again this week and I am excited for this term, Bye”.

What’s New?

Easter Celebration!

Thanks to our generous donors, we raised enough to be able to prepare amazing meals with huge portions as well as soda pop treats for our kids as they celebrated the Easter holiday! $250 provided these special meals from Good Friday to Easter Monday and consisted ofof rice, millet bread, beef, soup and soda.

Although we may not think much about soda here in the states, it’s actually considered to be a very special treat for kids in Uganda. They don’t have the privilege to drink them very often so it was a delightful gift that brought a lot of joy to the children on this special holiday!

Below are some pictures of the children enjoying the meals that were prepared at the Jinja orphanage.

Vitamins Provided!

Gordon has been “boots on ground” in Uganda and has been doing an amazing job at being the eyes and ears of Nyayo as he continuously monitors and reports back to us on the needs of the children. Every day he works hard to assess the various needs of the children in all aspects of their lives to better help us provide the most optimal care. As of January 2022, our founders have started providing $250 a month for Gordon to meet those needs that he sees. As a recent example, although the kids at the Jinja Children’s Home are receiving HIV medication daily, Gordon saw a need for more essential vitamins in the diet that will assist even further with their overall health. He used some of the operation funds to provide them to the children! Below are some of our children from Jinja with their new vitamins!

The Children’s Daily Life

School - The children are back to hitting the books after their week long spring break! Gordon was able to provide some extra notepads and pens to some of the kids to better help with their studies which is really neat! This money comes from the our operations that our founders fund called “miscellaneous administration” costs. This money is essentially for Gordon to address needs as he sees them that are unplanned. Below is a picture of some kids engaged within the classroom as well as showing off some new notepads!

Bible Study

Weekly Zoom Studies

Please reach out if you’re interested in joining our bible studies via zoom every Monday at 7pm CT! We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about Jesus, even if you just wish to keep your camera off and listen in on our discussions! We like to keep it light and informal as we have casual conversations about the various chapters we read throughout the Bible! Currently we are studying the book of 1 Timothy.
