June 2022 Newsletter
Hello Nyayo Family!
June was an incredible month with many blessings! In June, Nyayo was fortunate enough to receive funds from not only individual donors but from a generous company as well, which is detailed in the “What’s New” section down below. In addition to that we were also able to make significant leaps in various sustainability projects and have even started the process of an exciting new project! Before we get into all the details, we want to introduce you to our child of the month!
Greetings From Uganda!
This month we are excited to introduce you to Masika Aisha! Below is a message that she wanted us to share with you all!
“My name Masika Aisha. I am 13 years old and finishing my primary 7 class this year. Greetings to everyone in the name of Jesus.”
If any of our donors ever have the interest to reach out and send a message to our children, you can always email us at nyayo.info@gmail.com and we will be sure to relay it to our team in Uganda for the kids to read.
What’s New?
KODA Technologies Approves Funding for the Cattle Project!
In June, we had an amazing opportunity to apply for a chance to receive funds from KODA Technologies, a company that one of our donors works for. This company has a program called KODA Cares that distributes funds to employees choice of nonprofits/charities. We put together an application package describing Nyayo and our donor presented this to his company. There were 6 other charities that were nominated in addition to Nyayo and we received $6,600 to go toward the cattle project! The same donor is contributing another $400 so we will be expending $7,000 on 5 new heifers at the end of July. This is an absolute blessing and we can’t give enough thanks to KODA and everyone involved for making this possible! If anyone works for or knows of a company’s with a similar charitable programs we would be happy to share the presentation and support you in putting together any other material necessary.
7 New Piglets!
We grew our piggery by more than 50% in June which is absolutely incredible! 7 new piglets were funded (6 from one surprise donation) which brings our piggery to a total of 16. We now have surpassed a quarter of our overall goal for this specific sustainability project and can hopefully continue to keep growing each month!
1 New Heifer!
After receiving the funds for a new heifer in May, we were able to purchase a healthy one this last month to join our herd! We now have a total of 5 and are accepting funds for our 6th! Below is a picture of the newly added heifer.
More Misquito Nets!
We continue to receive a steady amount of funds to slowly but surely replace the old mosquito nets with new ones! This last month we were able to purchase 10 more which brings us to the half way mark towards reaching our goal of replacing all the old nets!
New Chicken Coup Project!
We are excited to announce the start of a new sustainability project! As our piggery and heifer projects continue to grow tremendously, we have decided to begin the process of adding a new chicken coup project as well. We chose this project specifically since we currently allocate funding for eggs in the kids diet. We currently allocate $250 a month for milk and $80 a month for eggs each month. Our goal is to start reducing the amount we send for food at each home as soon as we are producing enough eggs and milk from the chicken coup and cattle herd. We will continue to focus on sustainable projects that allow us to gradually shrink the amount of money we send for basic needs. Gordon is in the process of pricing out a chicken coup and chickens but we added a new funding campaign to start collecting money while we wait ($500 is an arbitrary number until we get the actual cost)!
Special Thanks
The children took group photos for Gordon to share with us with a special caption saying, “Thanks to everyone for making our dream a reality!” Below are some of the pictures they sent!
Bible Study
Weekly Zoom Studies
Please reach out if you’re interested in joining our bible studies via zoom every Monday at 7pm CT! We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about Jesus, even if you just wish to keep your camera off and listen in on our discussions! We like to keep it light and informal as we have casual conversations about the various chapters we read throughout the Bible! Currently we are studying the book of Psalms.
