October 2021 Newsletter

Greetings from Uganda! This month we are happy to introduce you to Mujuni William. He lives at Ibonde Children’s Home, is 11 years old, and in primary 4. He says “Hello my friends in America, me I am called Mujuni William. I love farming and I love to help others. May God bless you and happy new month.” You can find a picture of Mujuni below :)

What’s new? Gordon arrived safely in Uganda this past month and is now serving full time at the children’s homes! Please keep him in your prayers with this transition. We are very thankful to have him on the ground serving our people in this capacity! He has been sending Hunter and I photos of various things going on at the children’s homes that I’ve shared below (click the individual picture to increase its size). Look how big our pigs have grown!

Thank you! We raised $3,492.64 this month which is roughly $500 - $700 more than we typically have raised in the past several months (please click Monthly Financial Report for a full detailed breakdown)! We had a some regulars who gave more than normal, had more photo sessions booked than normal (through our partner ALPhotography), and a donation from a company called Campaign Creators (I put on a tye dye workshop for them and they generously made a donation)! Because of all of our external help we were able to send $5,250 this month. We are very appreciative for all who donated this month, so thank you! We would not have been able to support our kids this month without:

Cindy Dorsainvil, Ida Heimann, Lydia Foutch, David Phillips, Campaign Creators, Ryan and Sydney McKenna, Arman and Leslie Jahandafard, Curran Hyde, Angi Keel, Josh Cornett, Earl and Stacey Sutton, Cayce McAlister, Lesley Barrera, Brandon and Mahalie Todd, Anna Barrera, Anthoney and Cynthia McNatt, Jacob and Amanda Patterson, Joyce McConnell, and Alex and Michelle Moore. Thank you all!

You’ll notice that this month we added an extra $300 to our usual $4,950 to the “Ibonde Medicine” line item. One of our regular donors and partners reached out to us in September with it on her heart to ask if we could look into funding feminine products for our teenage girls. Gordon, working with his parents, identified 30 girls at Ibonde Children’s Home who would benefit from this and the products that would be useful. We started praying about this earlier this month and are happy that we are able to fund the below items to help:

  1. Sanitary pads - $1.41 per girl

  2. Soap - $2.81 per girl

  3. Shavers - $1.41 per girl

  4. Nickers - $1.41 per girl

  5. Deodorant - $2.81 per girl

  6. Vaseline - $1.41 per girl

We will do what we can each month to continue funding part or all of this list as we continue but are very thankful for the increased gifts this past month to help at least this time!

Future Plans - Christmas Fund! We are hoping to send some money this upcoming month to provide something special for Christmas for the kids and caregivers at both children’s homes. We do not know what we are raising money for yet or how much we will try and send but are actively praying for guidance.

Our founders continue to connect with each other each Monday via virtual bible studies to continue to learn about God and Jesus who ultimately have inspired our mission. We are always happy to have new faces join us! Just reach out via our email under our Contact Us page or you can call/txt me at 540-454-0237 if you’d like to join.

We pray blessings on each of our donors at the beginning of each month and ask to be kept in your prayers as well!

Thanks again,

Michael, Gordon, and Hunter
