November 2021 Newsletter

Greetings from Uganda! This month we are happy to introduce you to Karungi Lucy. She lives at Ibonde Children’s Home, is 13 years old, and in primary 4. She says “Good morning my friends, I thanks God for life and that I am not sick. God bless everyone that helps us. I wish you a Merry Christmas.”

What’s new and Future Plans! All of the feminine and other hygienic products were bought this past month. Some of the girls who you’ve helped are above!

One of our donors also just let us know about another fundraising opportunity called Benevity Causes. It is a nonprofit that allows participating companies to match donations from their employees to nonprofits that they choose and that are registered. We have just completed our profile so our one donor’s contribution will be doubled each month now due to this matching program. We aren’t too sure how it works from the donors side but we can help get more information for anyone who may be interested to see if their company participates as well.

External donors gave $6,243.33 this month! This is a significant amount for us and only the third time we have ever raised more funds than our Basic Needs goal of $4,950. With our own contributions and our remaining balance of ~$900, we sent over $8,600 this month to buy another cow ($1,400) and Christmas presents ($2,000). I’m not sure any of us were expecting such a large amount when we said we would be raising money this month to specifically allocate for Christmas :) We will hopefully have some pictures next newsletter of what gifts were bought for the kids. We are very appreciative for all who donated this month, so thank you! Please click Monthly Financial Report for a full detailed breakdown.

This month we are planning to send notes to Gordon that he will read to the kids at Ibonde and Jinja Children’s Homes as well as the caregivers. All of the children from each home are going to be at Ibonde Children’s Home for Christmas and we thought this would be a nice time for them to hear from us. If you would like to share a note with either greetings or how the kids have impacted you please feel free to get that to me or Hunter. Next newsletter we plan to have our Annual Report published with an end of year summary as well as words from our caregivers in Uganda.

Thank you!
