November Newsletter
Nyayo is excited to share holiday greetings with you. We hope this season brings joy and peace as you get to spend more time with your families. We feel like one big family from different parts of the world and we want you to know that you are always in our prayers. November has been such an amazing productive month among many this year. It has been amazing to see God orchestrate many of the things that have been on our hearts.
November was a very special month for us in regard to fundraising because our one time and recurring donors collectively gave $4,141.25 this month. This is the first time we have ever received more than about $2,250 from our donors in a month. We are truly thankful, humbled, and blown away by the generosity we saw this month.
Due to experiencing this generosity, we didn’t have to contribute much this month toward our kids needs. So we thought we would express our thanks instead by donating to other charities that are special to us. Our founders pulled our money together and were able to donate to the charities below. We have been so blessed and it’s a joy for us to sow back into different organizations changing lives.
Our founders have been meeting once a week for bible study for about the past 6 months. It helps keeps us focused and encourages us to look at how we operate Nyayo through the lens of the bible. This month we decided to extend our bible studies to others, starting with our donors. Meeting weekly to do bible study is something that our founders really enjoy and we thought it would be a neat way for us to connect to you and you to us. Get in touch with one of us or email nyayo.info@gmail.com if you’d like to join!
Being more transparent about our operation and our finances has been on our hearts for many months. We have added two new ways to this month to take a step toward addressing transparency. We have started to produce a monthly financial report that shows a summary of that months finances, our checking account transactions, as well as detailed revenue and expenditure breakouts. We will be publishing this at the end of each month to those on our newsletter as well as on our website for visitors. We will be building a dedicated page to host our archive of reports but for this month you can find the financial report under the “Transparency” icon halfway down our homepage. We are also now showing folks a weekly status of revenue raised for each month. This tracker is right below the donation button on our donate page. We hope this gives you better insight into our operation so that you know exactly how we are managing your kind donations. Please feel free to ask us any questions.
Our Nyayo Child of the month is Akol Mark. He is in senior one (high school freshman). He is a very hard-working boy and very exemplary to his brothers and sisters.
“My name is Mark, I am very privileged to be able to be part of Jinja orphanage. I came here as a small boy and for 8 years now I have grown into a God fearing man. Thank you for your support. We wish you a merry Christmas.”
Peace and blessings,
Gordon, Hunter, and Michael
