January 2022 Newsletter
We have a lot of pictures and updates for you this newsletter (I forgot to add some in the December newsletter!) so buckle up! But before we jump into that, I’d like to highlight this months Nyayo child, Abigaba Lucky!
Greetings from Uganda! This month we are happy to introduce you to Abigaba Lucky. He lives at Ibonde Children’s Home and is in primary 1. This boy is always happy and smiling. He loves to dance (he’s the kid dancing in the video I shared in December’s newsletter) even though he is always off beat. He would fit right in with our Treasurer/Secretary Hunter and President Michael’s dancing ability! He is happy to be back in school.
With 2021 coming to an end, we not only wanted you to hear the impact you have had on our primary caregivers but we also wanted to show you how impactful your contributions have truly been from a financial point of view. The following set of graphs are our attempt to show you things like “how much was raised this past year”, “how does that compare to the previous year”, and “how was your money specifically allocated”. One thing that is very important to the founders of Nyayo is transparency. So be forewarned, there is a lot of detail below :) If there is something that doesn’t make sense or you’d like more detail on, just reach out to nyayo.info@gmail.com and we will try to give an answer!
Update - Christmas Presents! If you recall in November 2021, we started raising money for Christmas presents for the kids. We were able to raise $2,000, in November and sent another $500 over in December to buy each child a new set of clothing. Below are some of the clothes that were bought for our kids! Thank you to any who gave extra to support this :)
Update - A New Addition to Our Cattle Family! Below is the cow that was bought with the funds raised in November 2021! Gordon actually acquired it in early December but I forgot to tell y’all about it in our last newsletter. Her name is mbwawakevin which is Swahili for Kevdog (or as close as we can get to that)! We now have 1 bull and 3 heifers :)
January News! School has officially started again at Ibonde and Jinja after a long lockdown due to Covid-19 restrictions. Gordon is very busy with the day to day activities of school on top of other administration duties but he has told me that all are well and happy! Below are several pictures specifically of the school that sits across from the Ibonde Children’s Home. This is where children who live at Ibonde Children’s Home go to receive their education.
January Giving Report! External donors gave $3,262.67 this month! We allocated $3,262.67 to Basic Needs. Our founders were able to add our own donations to the Basic Needs fund so we have once more been able to meet our goal of $4,950. Please click Monthly Financial Report for a full detailed breakdown.
Thanks to those who gave! We actually have added 3 recurring givers over the past couple months that we are grateful for for their addition to those who give monthly. They are Taylor Handley, Taylor Sutton, Sebastian and Eun Joo Tarchala. A special thanks as well to our other regulars and one time givers for January’s allocation:
Cindy Dorsainvil, Lydia Foutch, David Phillips, Ryan and Sydney McKenna, Arman and Leslie Jahandafard, Curran Hyde, Angi Keel, Josh Cornett, Earl and Stacey Sutton, Nathan and Cayce McAlister, Brandon and Mahalie Todd, Anna Barrera, Jacob and Amanda Patterson, Joyce McConnell, and Alex and Michelle Moore. Thank you all, we truly would not be close to meeting the needs without your help!
Thank you for all who have ever given donations and/or your prayers! I hope you can tell how impactful you have been :)
Peace and blessings,
Michael, Gordon, and Hunter
